People rarely want to think about end of life. But in order to make it a little easier on the loved ones that we leave behind, and to make sure that our hard-earned property and estate gets distributed to those who we want it to go to, end of life planning is an absolute necessity.
There also may come a time that we are temporarily or permanently unable to manage our own affairs due to illness, incapacity or unavailability (such as not being able to leave the home or hospital). In times like these, it is important to have a trusted loved one in place, ready to spring into action on your behalf, managing your financial affairs or making your healthcare decisions. Pre-planning with Powers of Attorney can help to replace uncertainty with peace of mind.
Perhaps you have recently divorced and need to make a new estate plan. Or you have just started a family, or a business, or moved to Missouri or retired. Or perhaps you have simply put it off long enough. Whatever your circumstances, it is always a good time to visit with an estate planning attorney. We know that cookie-cutter estate planning forms, such as wills and durable powers of attorney, are available to you with the click of a button and a cost that is next to nothing. But our lives are not stamped out by a cookie-cutter and everyone’s family, circumstances and wishes are different and deserve to be recognized as such. At O’Donnell Law Center, we pride ourselves on quick and easy delivery of estate planning documents that incorporate your personal circumstances and we do it at a competitive and affordable price. We will also instruct you in making non-probate transfers so that you can help your loved ones avoid the time and expense of probating your will.
If you or your loved one is a home or hospital-bound client and cannot come to us, we can come to you.
At O’Donnell Law Center, we prepare:
- Durable Power of Attorney
- Health Care Directives
As part of the effort to ensure our friends, family and clients stay safe and healthy, yet are better prepared if disaster, illness or crisis hits, we have a customized Rapid Response Power of Attorney Package (for financial and health care decisions) for the price of $299 for a single person and $399 for a married couple. The price includes a choice of short signing ceremony environments that are built around the CDC’s recommended social distancing and hygienic practices:
- In our lobby. You arrive at our office at your appointment time and wait in your car until our office is clear of other clients and non-essential personnel and we have disinfected surfaces that you may come into contact with. Upon your entry, you will be invited to quickly execute your documents at a table just inside our lobby front door while our notary and witnesses watch from a distance, then you will be prompted to leave. After you leave, our notary and witnesses will sign your documents, which we will then mail to you, or
- In our parking lot. Our notary and witnesses will gather around your vehicle and watch you from a safe distance while you execute your documents, remaining at all times in the safety of your car. After, we will take possession of your signed documents, and after you leave, our notary and witnesses will sign your documents, then mail them to you.
We are doing everything we can think of at O’Donnell Law Center to minimize disruption to life as we know it during these difficult and uncertain times.
